Twelve Days of Purpose and Praise – By Major Janet González

Christmas starts with Christ.  This series will take you to an adventure of purpose and praise to help you approach this season with fresh eyes and open heart.

There is no doubt that 2020 has been quite a year.  With all the uncertainties and challenges faced individually and collectively, we need to refocus this Christmas season to celebrate Him today  and embrace the tomorrow to come.

Christmas is a time to rejoice. You may have heard or sung the Christmas song “The twelve days of Christmas”, a title alluding to the 12 days between Christmas and Epiphany.  The song enumerates a series of gifts given that increase in number and significance.  It starts by saying “on the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…”.  God gave us His son to save us so that we can rejoice in Him today, tomorrow and for eternity.  The most remarkable act of love!

Inspired by this love, we will embark in a 12-day journey through the nativity story that will refresh our souls, help us examine our hearts and prepare our spirits to truly rejoice in Immanuel -God with us.

There is no specific date for you to start this journey.  When you do, just follow the sequence (1-12).  We will reflect on what God calls us to be and what He wants us to do during this time, enumerating 12 areas of purpose.  We will also take time to praise Him! Each day will include a “Christmas carol for the day” so that you can sing along from wherever you are in the spirit of praise and gratitude for who Christ is, what He did and continues to do for each of us today.

Yes, Christmas starts with Christ and it is a time to rejoice! Let’s revisit the story together…
